HanseMerkur becomes Official Main Partner of CGN Esports VALORANT

Cologne, February 26, 2026 – CGN Esports and HanseMerkur announce the start of a strategic partnership. As part of the collaboration, HanseMerkur becomes the official main partner of CGN Esports’ VALORANT team.

The partnership forms part of HanseMerkur’s continued commitment to VALORANT esports. Following the extension of its naming partnership with the HanseMerkur VALORANT Challengers DACH (VCD), HanseMerkur is further expanding its extensive esports activities and partnering with CGN Esports, the most successful team in the league.

At the core of the collaboration are joint activations centered around CGN Esports’ VALORANT roster. These include the presentation of the new team jersey featuring HanseMerkur branding, as well as a range of content and community-focused formats.

A first visible milestone of the partnership will take place during the Grand Finals of the HanseMerkur VALORANT Challengers DACH on February 28 and March 1, 2026, at XPERION Cologne. CGN Esports has qualified for the final and will compete for the organization’s fifth VCD title. The event will be accompanied by an on-site activation by CGN Esports and HanseMerkur, including the official unveiling of the new team jersey.

The partnership follows a holistic strategy with a clear focus on the VALORANT community – both digitally and on-site. With XPERION Cologne and the CGN Campus, the organization offers established platforms and strong touchpoints for community events, fan experiences, and brand activations.

Through the combination of esports, gaming, and a strong creator ecosystem, the collaboration provides HanseMerkur with additional opportunities to achieve visibility beyond traditional sponsorship elements. Together with CGN Esports and selected creators, various content and activation formats will be implemented throughout the year.

“HanseMerkur is one of the most visible and consistent partners in VALORANT esports. This partnership sends a strong signal for our organization, for the league, and for the entire scene. In particular, the planned community and offline activations create real added value for our fans,” says David Dick, COO & Co-Owner of CGN Esports.

“CGN Esports stands for competitive consistency, professional structures, and a passionate community that truly lives esports. With this partnership, we are sending a clear signal of our long-term commitment to VALORANT esports and the sustainable development of the scene – especially in times of change. Together with CGN Esports, we aim not only to celebrate competitive success but also to actively engage the community and further strengthen the connection between fans, teams, and partners,” says Eric Bussert, Member of the Executive Board of HanseMerkur.

The partnership complements HanseMerkur’s long-term engagement in VALORANT esports as well as its naming partnership with VALORANT Challengers DACH.
